What are your real choices when it comes to anxiety remedies. If you are a typical busy person surely you're looking for a solution that is quick, you're not looking for years meditation for example. When it comes to anxiety treatment, lasting solutions are easier than you think.
So the first step is to ask yourself what do I actually fear in life. And if you think of the things you love, what do you not fear. The answer is simple, you do not fear your loved ones, you do not fear your job, you do not fear shopping, you are not afraid of your daily commute, you do not fear your kids being born, your home, you're not afraid of all of these things and therefore you do not need anxiety treatment.
So you have to accept that you have very little to fear, but you're afraid of everything. You have to remember that there is nothing to fear, in fact the exact opposite is true. It is important to know that the only thing you can do to change your situation is to change your thinking. In other words the only way you can stop anxiety is to stop thinking.
So first you're going to say to yourself, I'm never going to get anxiety and you're going to stop thinking about everything. And you're going to tell yourself it again, and again, and again. And this is going to take practice, but it's the only thing that works. So the next step is to tell yourself it, and again and again. I'm never going to get anxiety. And I'm going to tell myself this every time I start to get anxiety, and I'm going to repeat it out loud every single time I get anxious, and if someone gives me a hand I'm going to say to them, It's never going to get any worse, it's never going to get any better, and it's never going to stop until I stop thinking about it.
The next step is to make a list of all the things you're afraid of. Now the reason I call this a list is because we're going to use the same strategy we used above, and I'm going to make a list of all the things I'm afraid of. So make a list of all the situations that you're afraid of, what they are, what you're willing to risk, what you're willing to accept. There's a good chance that by the time you're done with this exercise you'll have a list of around ten or so situations. And we're going to use this list as the basis of our anxiety reduction system.
We're going to use the same system we used above, and I'm going to focus on just three or four things, and we're going to deal with those items one at a time. I'm going to add them to my list, and I'm going to start on the one that I feel comfortable with. And in a sense this is the same process that I used when I started to get the anxiety. I was still dealing with anxiety issues, and my anxiety was still creeping up on me, and I was still at my wit's end about what to do. And I wasn't going to get distracted by the fact that at that moment my anxiety was in the nineties, I was still thinking that the worst thing that could happen was, and that my worst fear was that I would never get rid of the anxiety, but that my other fears would soon fade away. And my fear was going to be completely wrong, and I was going to spend the rest of my life terrified that I was going to lose control of my mind, and that I was going to have a nervous breakdown, and no-one would know that I was suffering from anxiety. I was going to be totally unaware that I was a nervous wreck, and I was going to spend the rest of my life a recluse, and most of all I was going to be totally unaware that I was getting ready to be anxious, and that's not OK. So I've got to do better than that. I'm going to have to find a way to treat my anxiety, that's got to have legs. I've got to be able to stand on my feet and walk away from the cliff. I don't want to do that any more.
I know what to do to begin to overcome my anxiety. If I can take one thing from this exercise it's this: I am going to start taking medication. I've got to begin taking medication. No medication is going to be the answer, but I'm going to start taking them to begin to overcome my anxiety. I really think this is the answer, but I'm going to have to tolerate the side effects. The side effects are going to be that I can't work again for a couple of months, and I'm going to feel very anxious, and it's going to be like a roller coaster. I'm going to feel anxious for a couple of months, but then it will drop away, and it will subside, and I will be able to work again, and I will be able to work very well again. I'm going to need to be on medication for a couple of months, and I'm not going to like the side effects, but I'm going to like the benefits. I'm going to need to tolerate the medication for the benefits. And, I'm going to need to do this, because medication is going to be the best answer to this. That's going to be the best answer to the underlying reason why I'm struggling.
